Delete or Archive a Project

Archive, close or permanently delete a project.

To remove a project, there are three options:

  • Archive the project (can be restored in the future)
  • Mark a project as closed (will remain on the project navigation menu)
  • Delete a project permanently
Once a project status has been changed, it will reflect immediately across the software.

Archiving (Soft-Deleting) a Project

Archiving an open project, assuming that you're the project creator, is easy. Simply navigate to the project and access project settings by clicking on the name of the project.

Delete a project-1

When you click "delete," a popup will appear asking if you're sure that you want to delete the project. Click "ok" to change the project status to deleted, which removes it from the left project navigation menu, and changes the project status to deleted on the Portfolio page (learn more).

You can also archive a project on the portfolio projects page by clicking the three ellipses next to the project name and then selecting delete from the pull-down.

Once you delete the project, you can restore it by clicking the three ellipses next to the project name on the Portfolio page. On the pull-down, click restore.

Changing the Project Status to Closed

Instead of deleting a project, you can change the status to closed on the project settings popup or on the Portfolio > Projects page. Click on "project settings" from the portfolio projects menu or access settings by clicking on the project name in the upper left-hand corner.

In project settings, click status, where you can change the status to closed.

Change project status to closed

Closing a project is a great option if you no longer need access to the project but may need to open it later.

Closed projects are removed from the left project navigation menu. You can re-open a closed project at any time by changing the project status, and it will then be available for editing. Related: Understanding closed and deleted projects.

Permanently Deleting a Project

Permanently delete a project by deleting it twice. If you delete it once (referred to as archiving above in this article), you can restore or delete the project by clicking the three ellipses next to the grayed-out project name on the Portfolio page.

If you click the delete button again, it will be permanently deleted. Once a project is deleted, it can’t be restored so make sure you want to permanently delete it.
