How to Use Our API

Locate your API key and integrate into thousands of helpful tools.

The Application Programming Interface (API) is a unique set of rules and protocols that allow different software applications to communicate with one another. Use the ProjectManager API to integrate third-party services and keep data updated.

All ProjectManager workspaces have API access. Those with the admin or global admin roles can create an API key with ProjectManager. Then, download the appropriate software development kit or visit our API page to look at our Swagger/OpenAPI definitions.

Once you’ve located your API key, you can use our API to integrate with your own internal systems or create custom applications. Navigate to your menu > integrations.

Integrations on new menu-1

Then, click on API keys to learn more about our API options.

I'm using an older API today, how can I upgrade to V4?

The new REST API v4 provides much more functionality than the older V1 and V3 APIs. ProjectManager encourages everyone to upgrade as soon as possible. Here's how to do so.

API v3 Customers

If you're on the API v3, you can start using API v4 calls right away. Just visit the ProjectManager v4 API keys page to learn how to create an API for v4. Once you have an API key for v4, you can begin using one of ProjectManager's available software development kits or begin writing your own code by viewing API documentation online.

API v1 Customers

Developers using the V1 API can upgrade to API v4 by contacting support to schedule an upgrade at support@projectmanager.com. Reach out today!

I'm on a trial, can I access the API?

Yes, we encourage trialists to explore the API features and develop connections between integral systems for their business.

I can't find the API tab on the Account Menu. What do I do?

If you don't see the API tab, you might not have permission from your Global Admin. Contact your account administrator to get access.

What endpoints are available?

Our Developer Center outlines the endpoints that are currently available. We're continuing to build more endpoints based on customer feedback, so if you don't find what you need you can contact support@projectmanager.com
