[Resource Availability](https://learn.projectmanager.com/resource-management#resource-availability) # Track machinery or subcontractors via resources with no role ## There may be situations where you want to track a non-human resources (such machinery) or create a user who can't log in. This can be achieved by simply creating a resource with no role. Creating a user with no role allows you to assign them tasks without giving them access to the software. [Here's a visual step-by-step overview](https://app.storylane.io/share/jcgtsfooaha4).  When inviting a user, select *None* as the role.
