The Global Admin Role

The global admin role has the highest security permissions within the software.

There must be at least one global admin assigned within an account but multiple global admins can be assigned. The account holder will become the default global admin unless their role is downgraded by another global admin.

Unlike the admin role, security permissions for the global admin can’t be changed. Only the global admin can assign another user the global admin role.

Accessing Role Security

To access role security, click on your profile icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the software and click "security." You'll then see the below popup appear.

Global Admin Permissions

The global admin has all rights and permissions on the role security popup. In addition, the global admin can see all created projects on the portfolio projects page and choose to join any project.

If they choose to join a project, they will have default manage access, and they can’t be downgraded to edit or collaborate access. When a global admin joins a project, they will see the project on the project list selector on the left-hand side of the screen. Even though the global admin can join any project, they can’t see any non-project tasks where they are not assigned.

For Enterprise customers, the global admin will also have access to the audit log and account export.

How to Give Global Admin Permissions

On the role security popup, you can see which users have global admin permissions. If you are a global admin, you can assign or remove the global admin role.
